SAZOR GIZ is the Slovenian reproduction rights organization (RRO). SAZOR was established on June 20th 2003 by three founding members: the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, ZAMP - the Slovenian Authors' Association and the Slovenian Technical and Scientific Translators' Association.
In order to act as a collective management organization, SAZOR also obtained the licence of the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), as this is required by the Slovenian Copyright and Related Rights Act.
Today SAZOR represents and collectively manages the reproduction rights of over 500 authors (writers, journalists, composers, authors of scientific or educational texts, photographers, illustrators, playwrights) and over 20 publishers (of books, newspapers, magazines, musical scores). In terms of the Slovenian market, this represents a very significant part, which is still growing.
It is in SAZOR's interest to provide support not only to its members, but also to all those who use the materials provided by its members and wish to do so legally.
Thus SAZOR collects and distributes the remuneration for reprography to the entitled parties, in accordance with the relevant legal acts.
The operation of SAZOR is subject to the control of the SIPO, otherwise the government is only involved in the process by establishing the legal framework of these activities.
